One of the worst parts of moving is trying to find a new hair salon. You can find a new grocery store, new social group, just about anything, but a hair salon is really tough. If you’ve moved recently, or just need to find a good beauty salon, there are some things you can do that will make your search a little easier.

Salons have changed a lot from the old days. It wasn’t too long ago that anyone could go into any salon and there would be a stylist available who could do your hair. Today, they are more specialized. Finding a salon and stylist for your type of hair, who can do the kind of styling you want, is going to take some time and effort.

People who have developed a routine of going to their stylist once a week aren’t looking for a spectacular blow dry. We want a hairstyle that will stay in place and withstand the elements and our lifestyle. We aren’t looking for a style that will look great in a photograph today and need to be redone tomorrow.

In a new location, you have to start to develop this relationship all over. It can be as difficult to find a new salon and stylist as it is to make new friends. It also helps to ask people who have the style that we like where they got their hair done. Most of the time the salon we will be most happy with will not be heavily promoted or advertised and word-of-mouth will be one of the few ways that they will be found.

Finding a Salon that offers the kind of atmosphere where a person can feel comfortable and welcome will make the entire search for a new stylist easier.
